For anyone who doesn’t know, the Soundhaus was one of Glasgow’s most legendary dance venues and thousands visited it to unwind to its eclectic roster of talent at weekends for 12 years from 1995 to 2012.
Development of the Finnieston area led to the Soundhaus closing down last year as the building was to be knocked down and work was to start on a new business centre.
However, when life gives lemons, people make lemonade. Some of the former organisers of the Soundhaus are now getting together to open up a new venue, not far from where the old one was. The new, larger complex will feature a dancefloor where people can get back to enjoying great nights out to old Soundhaus acts as well as some new fresh faces, but will also boast a café where anyone working in the area during the day can either grab a quick coffee or sit down and have a leisurely bite to eat depending on what they want to do. Not only that, but some new faces will be getting involved to organise other activities like fitness classes and art shows.
The large and exciting project still requires further funding, but that’s OK, because all you need to do to make it happen is head along to the Signs of Life events at Stereo and have a good time. Great acts will be playing at the events, the first of which is Saturday, March 2nd 2013.
